Mobil partnered with Maionic to create a 3D interactive virtual showroom designed to simulate a real shop floor experience. Visitors were greeted with two key machines: a CNC milling machine and a plastic injection molding machine.
Digital Twins and Info Hotspots
Clicking on each machine opened up detailed 3D digital twins, embedded with info hotspots that illustrated common technical issues like overheating, component wear, and contamination.

Visualizing complex breakdowns
When users clicked on a problem hotspot, they experienced a shift from static text and images to an interactive visual display, turning complex machine maintenance into something instantly relatable. The digital twin showcased oil functions at a component level, helping users see exactly how and where Mobil’s products made a difference. For users, the challenges they faced with machinery suddenly clicked into place, and the value of the right lubrication became clear through direct, visual storytelling.
